In health insurance contracts, a waiting period will apply for specific benefits. During this time, insurance claim for benefits, if arise, will not be covered. The waiting period will be clearly stated in policy wordings/contract. Waiting time applies in the following cases:
• 30 days for common illnesses and diseases;
• 365 days for special diseases, chronic diseases and pre-existing diseases;
• 270 days for maternity benefits.
Waiting time does not apply in the following cases:
– Renewal insurance contract;
– Insured person suffers an accident.
